Thanks for your participation and patience in this year's Earth Day in the Junction 5k Run.

Last year we had 100 runners and our goal for this year was 200. We ended up with over 400!!!!

Your patience with package pick-up, race day registration, and our shortage of t-shirts is greatly appreciated.

For those who didn't yet get shirts, we will let you know when they arrive and you can either pick them up at the Valley Junction office or we will mail them out.

BIG THANKS to the Running Room for managing the event and to Millennium Therapy for providing the After Care.

About Earth Day...

Earth Day Founder Gaylord Nelson believed education is the key to changing people's attitudes about the environment. He started his campaign to raise awareness about the environmental needs in the early 1960s. The success of Earth Day, though, depended largely on the success of this grassroots effort. Millions of demonstrators, schools and communities organized to promote the importance of Earth Day, said Nelson.

About Valley Junction...

Historic Valley Junction is six square blocks of antique and specialty shops, art galleries, fashion boutiques, hair salons, service businesses, and restaurants. Many of these businesses will be open to the public during the Earth Day celebration.

Proceeds go toward the Low-Income Green Demonstration Home Projects in Des Moines and West Des Moines
